Without Pay on H1B in US

Hello, I have H1B stamped through a US company and I am currently in India. The joining date is 16th July. Can I enter US on July 1st & then join the employer on the given date of 16th July? Can I remain without employment for the 15 days?

Thanks for the response. My H1B start date is 21 May and the employment start date is 16 july. Still i can take a gap of 10 days?
