I am in the process of scheduling VISA appointments for me and my family (2 H1Bs and 2 H4s). While I and my spouse are eligible to do drop box, my kids will be 14 at the time of the planned interview dates. Since they are not ten-printed yet, I believe they will require in-person interview scheduled. How do I proceed with this since the application process asks about the primary applicant’s drop box eligibility only. If I go ahead with the drop box, I am suspecting the consulate will ask for an interview and that could delay the overall process.
If any one of you had faced this issue, how did you resolve it?
Yes, I did book appointment - but for interview. I did not want drop box, even though I am individually eligible. Since the questionnaire had to be responded to considering ALL applicants in the group I said “No” to the question whether a VISA was issued after 14 years old.
I booked appointment for April next year at Hyderabad, nothing in Chennai.
No, there are interview slots available at various consulates and the embassy until April, except Chennai. I booked for April as that’s when I intend to travel to India.
I do not know about the availability of drop box appointments.
I don’t think so. We are processing VISAs as a family of four, and our children need to attend the biometrics appointment since they turned 14 this year. When I answered the questionnaire for dropbox eligibility, I considered the situation for all four of us, not just myself. The alternative would be to process their VISAs separately, which I wanted to avoid. I don’t believe this will be an issue in approving our VISAs - at least, I hope not.
