Travel back to US on H1B with visa stamped (Is NIE required?)

Hello Folks - I have a family emergency in India for which I need to visit India. I had my previously visa stamped till april 2022.
I was wondering while coming back to US at port of entry what documents will be requested to provide? Do I really need to fill in NIE form in India before returning US?
(My wife & US born 4 yr daughter will be in US only, they won’t be travelling with me at this time)

Do I really need to fill in NIE form in India before returning US?

Just carry the copy of your US born kid’s US passport and birth certificate. Parent of US citizen do not need NIE.
