Switching employer on H1B visa

Hi,

I got my Fresh H1B visa stamped (FY 14) and it is valid for 1 year.

I would be travelling to the US this month.

My Questions:

  1. If I want to change employer when I am in the US, do I have to exit US to get visa stamped in the name of new employer? Any other process involved other than cap-excempt H1B petition from new employer?

  2. If my work assignment with the current employer extends beyond 1 year, do I have to exit the US for Extension?

2.1. How many times can we extend stay (or) How long can I extend my stay in the US with H1B visa?

  1. U can go for Transfer if U have worked for the previous employer and got pay stubs… U dont need to go for Stamping until U go out of country

  2. Yes, if u go out of US

  3. 6 Years

Hi Rana, i think the answer for the second question should be No . Am i Right since no need to go out for extension. :slight_smile:

That is correct. The extension can be filed while staying inside US, and there is no need to travel outside of US.
