Requesting some advice for my parent’s visitor visa reapplying.
I applied for both of my parents B2 visitor visa at Karachi embassy in Pakistan. It got refused with a 214B notice mentioning that: You have not demonstrated that you have the ties that will compel you to return to your home country after your travel to the United States.
My father is retired for 4-5 year. My mother is a homemaker.
They have been asked questions around
What is my job and where do I work
For how long they want to visit
There are few areas I wanted to ask your opinion about and share any experience you have:
When should I re-reply for their visa application
Is it suggested to apply for mother and father separately.
Me and my wife have visited our home country in Nov 2023 and my parent application was applied in May 2024. Can this have impact in declining the application.
Does mentioning a longer period of stay like 3 months vs 30 days makes any difference for the application.
They didn’t asked for any additional documents. I have few things which we can share like proof of home, retirement income, bank balance details etc. My question is that how can I show any relevant documents as part of DS160 application as this is all text based and does not have any attachment option.
My wife is going through a training and my parent visit can help us at home with kids. Can this be used as a legitimate reason for their visit?
Thanks for going through details and sharing any advise.
Did the consular officer ask any questions around what your parents do for living? Or any financial documents like bank statements and other investments like retirement fund etc?
You can apply any time.
That may help establish a valid reason to prove ties if there are no other compelling reasons to show ties like property, bank balance, deposits, pension funds etc only then this approach may help.
Apply for another parent only after one is approved.
I dont think so.
Doesn’t matter as far as the stay is less than 6 months at a time.
They should carry the documents with them to the interview and mention if being asked about their source of income.
This will actually be negative as they shouldn’t be traveling to be house help. Rather the reason should be to meet and spend time with their grand kids, son and daughter in law.
The consular didn’t asked any questions to my parent around financials and source of income. He just asked questions around what work I do and my location and their duration of stay. They have carried all the documents but the consular didn’t asked for anything.
Understood, I also don’t see any place to provide these details. My parents were carrying the documents but consular didn’t asked for anything. I was asking from perspective that If I take help from a visa consultant company how will they be able to provide these additional details as part of application?
Thanks for providing point by point answers. Appreciate your time and input on the questions.
