How do we know whether my H1-B application has been received or not?

Do they send email first and then hard copy by snail mail (notice) to let us know the application has been received?

I sent the application to CA office on 1 April, and nothing is happening now.

They send the reception notice when they cash the check for the fee I sent with the application?

How long does it take to receive the notice?

If it was applied in PP, then email is sent first followed by snail mail.

If it was applied in non-PP, then only snail mail is sent.
