Passport validity for H4

My wife’s current passport is valid till 4th December 2016. She has to go for h4 visa stamping this month (Feb 2016) and her ticket to US is on 9th March 2016.

Can she go for stamping and be able to enter USA with her current passport ? We plan to get her a new passport from the indian consulate in US once she arrives here.

She can travel to US on current passport. She will be issued I-94 valid until her passport expiration date and not until your 797 expiration date.

Once her passport is renewed, she will have to apply for H-4 extension to get an extended I-94
