I am planning to go in the FALL 14 semester and my passport expires next year (November 2015). Is it advisable to get it reissued in India itself? If yes, am I eligible for renewal since there is still a year and a half to the expiry date? How long before the expiry can Indian passport be reissued?
Passport renewal can happen only less than 1 year before expiry. You can get the renewal done in US as well.
You can renew in India as well. There is no such rule that says you can’t get it renewed if validaity of more than 1 year is left. I renewed it when it was valid for next 13 months…
But you can renew in US as well. Both options are open for you…
