Passport expiring in June 2017. Should i renew passport before going for H1B stamping

Hi… Am filling by DS-160 and going to schedule my interview . Noticed a clause somewhere that passport should be valid atleast 6 months from date of entering US . Am not sure of my US travel. Currently no project requirement . Tentatively put a date of 3rd Jan 2017. But highly unlikely. Passport getting expired on 4th June 2017

Any issues with this ? Should i renew my passport before stamping or this is fine? Inputs will be highly appreciated . Thanks

I think what you are referring to is passport valid for at least 6 months on the date of interview. So you should be fine.

Why don’t you get the passport renewed first and then appear for stamping?
