OPT status - H1B submission on April 1, 2014 (TRAVELING)

I am currently on OPT (exp: June 30, 2014) with my F1 Student visa (exp:2017 I renewed upon graduation). I just submitted the application for H1B on April 1, 2014 and obviously have not heard back yet.

My brothers wedding is May 18, 2014 (next month) in my home country. Can I leave the country fo the weekend an re-enter with my FI Student visa/OPT? will this affect my H1B application will it void it in any way? What is recommended?

Your H-1 has been most likely filed w/ COS from F-1 to H-1.

If you leave US prior to H-1 approval, then COS will be abandoned. This will cause cap-gap to not go into effect. You will have to leave US on June 30 and then return around Oct 1 on stamped H-1 visa.

Prefered solution is to leave US after H-1 approval w/ COS.
