Opt expiring August 2013 / h1 b may take time / any other options

Hi my OPT for masters expires in August 2013 and I may get employed by mid April and filing may happen in second half of April. 2 questions

  • if quota runs out is there is any way employer can request for xtension of OPT ?

  • does masters of science in management included in STEM ?

Any clarifications would be great.

If you have a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, you are eligible for a 17- month OPT extension.

If your management degree is from a business school, you may not be eligible. If it is from an engineering school you may be eligible. Contact your school DSO to confirm .
