I have completed my PhD Program on June 25, 2022. I went ahead and applied for my OPT online without meeting with DSO. The application has been done with current i-20. When contacted my DSO, he suggested to withdraw the petition and apply again. On contacting USCIS customer care, they asked us to contact an attorney as withdrawing the petition will cause negative impact on the profile and further petition towards will be questionable. Now the school officials will not update your i-20 before withdrawing the petition, per say.
This is totally confusing and I am not sure what is the current action to be taken here. Any suggestion and clarity at the earlier would greatly help!
