Normal processing receipt time/ New employer joining

Hey,

I am on bench for a MNC and if i don’t find project before April 7 they’ll terminate.

Should i start H1B transfer to some consultancy now itself in premium as they’re removing premium from April 3rd.
How long can we stay without being on payroll on H1B.
How soon the H1B transfer should be filed in normal process given the recent circumstances if the last working day is April 7 (Friday)

You can file for it after April 7th too, when you are in the 60 day grace period. It is always good to have an transfer initiated and have the receipt notice in hand if you are very sure that you will be terminated.

So we can stay here for 60 days on H1B , without being on payroll?
