My petition was approved in October 2020, and I was able to secure H1B stamping appointment with Mumbai consulate for February 2022, so do I need a NIE letter for visa appointment? Can my stamping be rejected if I don’t have any NIE letter?
I haven’t planned to travel to U.S till now

You will need NIE if the Presidential proclamation 10199 is still in place at the time of your visa interview.
