I got my F1 approved on Aug2 and the current status is “your passport is still with US Embassy”. The VO said that NIE will be required for my dependents (spouse and kid). Any experience sharing in this regard and thoughts on how to go about, highly appreciated

If your dependents already have a F2 visa, you can apply for NIE, visa email, based on family separation.
