Unfortunately I lost my passport last week due to an incident and I’ll have to file for a new passport. My employer is currently filing my I140 on premium processing.
I would like to know if I can go ahead and file for a new passport now or would you suggest I wait until my I140 is approved?

If your I-140 is already filed using the old passport copy, it is okay to go ahead and apply for a new one now. If I-140 is not yet filed, you can apply for new passport and then file I-140 using the new one.

No issues if your I-140 is already filed. Passport is just a ID.
