L1 to H4 to H1 Visa - Is this doable.

Hi,

I am currently on L1. I have filed for H1B this year. It is still in Initial Review. Not sure if it will be ever approved. I had applied through a Consultancy and not sure if that is affecting the processing time.

I have a few questions.

  1. If my H1 is not approved for any reason, i wish to move to H4 as my wife will be moving to H1 from this October. (Currently, she is in L2).

  2. If my H4 gets approved, I wish to apply for H1 through some good company next year. Will there be any questions because of this approach.

  1. You can move to H4.

    1. No issues. You can move to H1B from H4 next year.

Do we get fresh 6 years on H1B because status was already changed from L1B to H4 before changing to H1B.
