My Fiancee received a J1-Visa recently. We are about to be married in 1 month and her J1 related program starts from December. Can she travel to the US with a status single on Passport? My fiancee is based in India and I have H-1B visa in the US.

As long as she is not using any of your visa related dependent benefits, it should not matter. So, in your case, she is coming on J1, which is not like H4 tied to H1B, so it should not matter…
Also, technically, you do not need to get a new passport immediately, you can just carry the Marriage Certificate, if requested. But, in the long run, it is better to get the passport updated to be clear…
