I would like to know Is there any advantage of keeping an Indian Mediclaim policy while in US ?
Is anyone who is currently on F1 or H1B kept their indian mediclaim policy, so that it can be utilized (if needed) when the person goes to india for a vacation
Yes, it is always a better idea to keep Indian Medclaim. My insurance in US will not cover me or dependents unless there is an emergency while I am in India for vacation.
Do you plan on living permanently in the US and only visit India for vacations? In that case it may not be worth keeping your Mediclaim policy. Instead, you can easily purchase a short term travel plan when you travel. If you are thinking of moving back to India it might be advisable to keep your Mediclaim plan just so that they cannot deny coverage later because of any medical conditions you may develop by then. Having continuous protection with the same company might be an advantage.
