I am applying for H1B extension stamping next month , when I first travelled to US in 2011 I was single and my visa expired on Sept 2014. Now its been two years I got married, though I did not update my spouse name in my passport. Is it mandatory to have it updated , if not in Ds160 should I give my martial status as married or single.
It is not mandatory to have the name endorsed in the passport. In DS-160 form you should mention married as that’s the truth.
When appearing for H-4 visa interview, the spouse should carry marriage certificate, wedding card/album etc - basically anything to prove that you guys are indeed married.
