Impact of old extension denied on new H1b stamping

Hello All,

In the past I had H1b (validity Sep 2008 - Sep 2011). However I travelled on this in July 2011.

Then my employer applied for extention. But the result of extension did not come till Mar 2012. In the mean time, due to family emergency I had to travel back to India on Feb 01, 2012. Then my extention was denied. (I still dont know the reason for denial). My employer did file for an appeal. But nothing happend on that.

Later on this year I found a h1b sponsor who filed for a new h1b & it got approved. I will be going for stamping next week.

I have the following questions -

  1. Will my earlier denial of extension have any adverse impact on my new visa stamping?

  2. I dont know the reason for denial. So what should I reply in case stamping officer asks for reason? My center is Mumbai

Appreciate if some one can help me.

Previous denial of extension will not have an impact on stamping. Reason for denial usually is when USCIS is unsure if the project for which extension is being requested has a reasonable life cycle. Please state if asked regarding extension denial as follows “The project had approached a successful end and it was not justifiable to request or award an extension.”

Best wishes
