If H1 case still pending after Oct 1 during cap gap period?

I am currently on F1 visa with H1 cap gap extension period. My petition for H1 is still pending with USCIS. My case got delayed due to lack of documentation. Can i still continue work after Oct 1, if my case is still pending at that time?
