I got fingerprint notice before my spouse I485 is accepted

Hi,

Last year my employer did the downgrade from EB2 to EB3. By that time, my family got stuck in India. Now they returned to US and my employer just filed the AOS for my wife and kid.

Now I received the biometric appointment notice and it is in 2 weeks. My friends said it will be a problem if I go for fingerprinting and medical before my family’s applications get accepted (before they receive receipt notices). If I do fingerprinting and medical, then I can apply greencard to my family thru Family quota only and not thru the employment based.

Is it okay for me to go for fingerprinting now? Will my wife and kid’s applications amended along with my application?

You can also reschedule your finger printing at the a later time. You should consult your employer’s immigration lawyer and act based on their advice.
