how to pursue for PHD in USA

I am a Chartered Accountant (1993) and completed CFA (USA) in 2015. How I can pursue PHD in Finance and what are the formalities for the same…how much time is required for the same

Usually the process is pretty straight forward, you need to take standardized tests like GRE or GMAT depending on the school and give TOEFL as well. Once that is done, you need to apply as per process writing essay/ Statement of purpose and get recommendation letters. All of this process is documented well on any of the PhD admission pages. Time required depends on your level of comfort to take standardized tests. Usually it can take anywhere up to 6 months or 9 months to plan well and apply to good schools without missing deadlines. Here is a Sample Spring MS Plan, just change the dates to 2016 and 2017.

It always boils down to your passion on why you want to PhD. If you are clear on that, go for it.
