How much time will it take to receive I797 after Visa approval

Hi,

I have got my H1B Visa filed in April 2012 normal processing under California Center and got an RFE in Sept 2012. I was lucky enough to get Visa approval within just 10 days of sending the response.

Now, USCIS site is showing ‘Approved’ since 22nd Oct 2012 but I haven’t received my petition (I797 docs) yet. I called up my attorney and he told me that USCIS is facing delays in sending the documents after approval.

Is anybody else facing such issue?

How much time will it take to get the approved petition docs?

Usually it takes 1 to 2 weeks. Your employer and your lawyer both will receive approval notices. I received my approval notice within five days. As long as your petition is approved, you do not need to worry.

For me also same case, but it got approved on August 14 but still i didnt get my approval notice (3 months over). Why such delays are happening?

I got the approval notice yesterday…
3 months is a long time. You should try and contact USCIS on the numbers mentioned and inquire about the same… I got information from attorney that they are posing a delay of 4-5 weeks at the max to send the notice.
