How can I know whether my H1 is filed w/ COS or W/o COS?

Hello,

Presently I am on H4 status. 1 of the consultant has applied for my H1b transfer in the 2013 quota and hopefully I will be getting the approval soon.

My question is : Is there a way by which I can know whether my H1 is filed w/ COS or w/o COS?

If my H1 is applied w/ COS,how many days can I get as grace period before I start working?

If your H1B petition was filed with COS, your approval notice would have an I-94 attached to it.

In my view…technically, there is no grace period as such. Legally, your status would be changed to H1B and you have to be paid by employer starting from day 1.
