Help Needed: Correcting Spelling Mistake on Approved I-797 for US Visa Interview

I’m seeking advice on a problem I currently face with my US Visa application process.

My attorney submitted my documents and questionnaire for the I-797 with a spelling mistake in my last name. (one letter was missed). Unfortunately, the I-797 has already been approved with this incorrect spelling.

I’m worried this error might cause issues during my US Visa interview. Has anyone here experienced a similar situation? If so, how did you resolve it?
I let my attorney know about this and yet to get a resolution.

Specifically, I’m looking for answers to the following questions:

  • Will the spelling mistake on the I-797 affect my US Visa interview process?
  • If my attorney contacts USCIS to correct my name, will I be receiving a new I-797 document?
  • If so, can that be fast-tracked?
  • How long does the correction process typically take, and will it delay my visa application?
  • I am going in for a drop-box, will it be detrimental or should I go for an in-person interview to help explain my situation better?
Any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help.

I teach you something, when you have a immigration lawyer discuss all this with him not here…i can give you peace of mind tho that getting a coreected name on an approved I 797 doesn’t take long time. Stick with your lawyer.
