Have both H1B and F1 visa . No OPT, I am in India. Employers not willing to interview unless in US

Hi,

I got valid F1 visa till 2017. I finished my MS and have no more OPT.

I also have valid H1B visa stamped last year and valid till 2016.

My problem is a service company filed for my H1B and I got it, but they are not able to place me.

I spoke to other potential employers and most of them are hesistant unless I am in the US already.

In 2012, I was in the US, I had F1 but no H1B, got lots of interview calls, but most rejected since I dont have H1B or OPT.

Now, I have H1B and since last year and not even getting interview calls since I am not in US.

I am thinking of applying for some short course in the US in F1 visa and then changing to H1B.

Or is it advisable to go on a B1 Visa through my company which doesnt mind sending me for sometime and then look for a H1B job. I think we cant interview while on B1.

I am becoming very desperate.

Please let me know if you have any suggestion.

Thanks,

Vijay

The main issue is getting H1 stamping with the proper client letter.

If you are with a H1 stamping in US ONLY the employers can place you. Rest of the cases are difficult (getting H1 stamping. On B1 you cant take interviews. On F1 as well). Only option for you is to get your H1 stamped while in India go to US on L1 or B2 and then try for H1 job there and trigger COS)

Hi IMmigeek,

Thanks for your answer. My H1B is already stamped.

So looks like from your answer, if I am coming on B1, I can take interviews.

I guess, if I get through, I can come back to India, then again travel back to US on H1B.

I dont think I need to stamp my H1B again.

Thanks,
