H4 Passport expiry & Stamping query

Hi,

My kid passport expires on 20th Jun 2023. I have I-797 approval till Jan-2025.
If we go for drop box with current passport, my Kid will get VISA Stamped till Jan-2025 or only till Passport validity?

You may still get a 3 year visa however when you enter the US the CBP will issue I-94 till the visa validity which means you will need to file extension if status for your kid or just visit the CBP at Mexico or Canada border and get I-94 extended using the new passport.

To avoid all above, I recommend renewing the passport and then go for dropbox.
