H4 EAD to H1 approved and travel to india

Hello Everyone,

I have H4 EAD valid till 2022 and in 2020 i have applied for H1B and my visa is approved effective from October 2020. Which means that i have my change of status from H4 to H1. I am currently working with a company.

Due to emergency situation i need to travel to india. I have few questions:

  1. Is the H1B visa stamping for the new H1B approved candiates opened in India? How long do I need to wait for H1B Visa interview?
    2)Can I go for H4 visa stamping along with my spouse and change to H4? As my spouse is eligible for H1B Dropbox.Do i need to apply again to USCIS for change of status to H4 if I need to go for stamping in H4?
    3)If i move to H4 , do i need to apply again for H4 EAD for me to work ?

Please help me with these questions.

  2. Yes, you can try the dropbox option. No need.
  3. If your H4 EAD is valid, you do not have to apply for new EAD card, you can use the old one. The key is to have the status of H4.
