H4 Dropbox appoint with Primary applicant (H1) in US

Hi,

For an emergency my wife had to travel to India. Since both our visas were expired, she has setup a dropbox appointment to go for H4 visa renewal. Going thru the others experiences and comments it seems now it is mandatory to have Primary applicant Valid visa to go for H4 stamping.
is this true.

Do I need to make arrangements for my travel and go for a common visa stamping ?

Primary H1B if already present in the US do not need a valid visa for their H4 dependents to go for stamping. Where did you hear the otherwise from?

Your H4 dependent will need copy of your current/extended I-797, employment verification letter, last three paystubs, along with other H4 related documents for visa stamping.
