H1b validity shortened after transfer to New Employer

Hello All,

I was with employer A and My H1b I797 validity was Dec 2018. I switched to employer B in March 2016 and h1b transferred through premium. To my surprise new h1b validity is only till March 2017.

What could be the reason as the validity shortened by USCIS ?

Could be one of the following reasons:

  • That’s what your employer requested

  • That’s what USCIS determined to be correct term based upon submitted documents like client letter etc

  • USCIS made an error

Thanks for your reply Saurabh, I will update here once I have all petition docs available with me. I also assume this would be due to SOW or LCA.
