H1B Transfer and H4/H4 EAD Validity After Extension Approval

I’m currently on an H1B visa that was set to expire in January 2025, and my employer filed for an extension in September 2024 along with H4 and H4 EAD for my spouse. All three were approved, extending our status and work authorization from January 2025 to January 2028. Now, I’ve received a job offer with a new employer and am considering transferring my H1B.

My question is: Do I need to file a new H4 and H4 EAD application with the H1B transfer, or is the existing approval from my previous employer (valid until January 2028) sufficient for my spouse’s H4 status and work authorization?

Thank you for any guidance!

No, you dont need to file H4/EAD extension. As long as you maintain your H1B status and your H1B transfer is approved, your H4 dependents are good with their current approval.
The only downside is that your new H1B exipry and the H4 expiry will no longer be the same so you will need to track and apply for H4 extension before the expiry in 2028
