H1b rejected, Info needed for f1 VISA stamping in Ciudad Juarez

My H1-B got rejected and joined XXX school with day 1 CPT program . Today an official from SEVP contacted my new school to state that my SEVIS record from my old school should not have been transferred in Active status but should have been in Completed Status, the official requested an immediate record correction and my DSO changed it.

Since my VISA date is also expired and SEVIS is not active now, DSO gave me two options,

Leave the U.S., obtain a new visa with the new SEVIS ID number, and then re-enter the U.S. Or return to your home country permanently.

my F1 status ended on July 21st and was on Cap-Gap until Sept 30

I’m planning to re-enter with new SEVIS ID if VISA stamping is successful. Please suggest me what doc’s I need if I go to VISA interview either in INDIA/CANANDA/MEXICO.

I20PassportRecent i94New SEVIS ReceiptDS 160 form ? I came to know that if we go for a VISA stamping in Ciudad Juarez /Mexico we don’t require to fill DS 160 form. Please advise me on the above. Thanks much!!!

I would suggest going to India. This way you are not spending money on hotel, food, travel etc. If you go to countries other than India, you still don’t know how many days the processing may take. If rejected, you may anyway have to book a flight to India. So you will be spending more one way or other.

Its always advisable to go to home country.

Something is not right. SEVP clerks rarely call a school for record correction. The DSO seems to have done something personal and without thinking. Such bias is not uncommon. Your status will be ‘complete’ only if credits transfer freely between previous school and new school - if that is not the case, then the new school cannot adjudicate what you have or haven’t completed
