H1B petition picked in lottery passport expired in March 2017

Hi,

I submitted H1B petition and received case number after the lottery in May 2016. My current passport will be expired on 07th March 2017.

Now can i apply for passport renewal or should i wait till stamping. Since my petition have my current passport number. Is there any problem if i get passport renewal or can i apply once stamping completed.

IMO, you should get the passport renewed now and go for stamping w/ renewed passport. This way, your visa would be in your latest passport. No impact on processing.
