My H1b - l2 COS got approved within a month. Normal processing time is 2.5 months so it caught me by surprise. Can I still continue working for my H1b employer for some more days and complete my transition?

You will be considered on L-2 from COS effective date and need to stop working on H-1. You can apply for EAD and can commence working on L-2 EAD once that gets approved.
