H1B first time interview stamping. 221g refusal since 4.5 months

I have attended my h1b stamping interview for the first time in Dec 2021. i797 is valid until oct '23. ( was on F1 before that).
I have received white slip 221g and no additional information was asked. My passport has been retained by the officer. ceac status shows refused since my interview.
I have been waiting since then and emailing the consulate regularly but getting the standard response that it is under processing.
Is there any other way to know what’s going on? Worried it might cause problems for my employment,My passport has also been with them since 4.5 months.
