H1B Extension: Changing jobs internally

My current H1B expires in September. I am trying to change to a different team internally with a different job title (same location,salary). I’m still in interview process. Immigration lawyers have already started h1b extension under my current job title.

Am i eligible to apply extension and then change job title? Do the rules allow me to do this?

As far as you are employed and your payroll is generated you are eligible for H1B extension of status. Once you change the job title, your employer may need to apply for H1B amendment with a new LCA if the job duties for the new role are substantially different that your old role.
