H1b employer is not paying salary nor response after resignation? I’m reaching out to get some advice on how to handle?

I’m reaching out to get some advice on how to handle a situation regarding unpaid wages. Here’s a brief overview:

I came to the USA on an H1B visa through a desi consultancy. Initially, I was placed on the bench without pay and no health benefits for about 45 days. After that, I found a project, and my employer started payroll once he received payment from the client. However, I still did not receive any health benefits.

After working for three months, I found a better opportunity that offered me visa sponsorship, so I resigned from the consultancy. As per the terms of my agreement, I was supposed to receive pay for 6 weeks. Unfortunately, after my resignation, my employer stopped responding to my calls and emails.

Eventually, the employer claimed that they didn’t receive any payment from the client, but I contacted the client, and they confirmed that they had paid for all the days I worked. I also have approved timesheets and emails from the client verifying this.

At this point, I’m not sure what options I have to recover the payment. I’ve tried reaching out multiple times with no success. What would be the best course of action here? Should I consider legal options, file a complaint with labor authorities, or pursue another method?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!
