Date: March 8, 2022

Appointment time: 1.15 PM. I arrived at 12.30 PM and was let in the queue.

Baggage: Mobile phone allowed on airplane mode + all docs listed in the Visa Appointment letter + additional docs related to previous visa, school and work (none of these were required ultimately).

Documents asked for H1B dropbox:

  1. Visa Interview appointment letter

  2. DS-160 confirmation page. My DS-160 confirmation page had listed a different consulate from where my appointment was scheduled, but that did not matter.

  3. All current and previous passports (with previous visa stamps)

  4. Photocopy of I-797A for current company. I carried the I-797A of my previous company as well, but was not asked for that.

  5. Employment Letter (stating my full name, company name, joining date, position name and salary details).

  6. Most recent passport photo per US Visa requirements. I would suggest carrying 5-6 copies as the person at the counter did not accept the first copy.

Was in and out within 10 minutes. If you forget any photocopies, they can help you with that at the appointment centre provided you are carrying originals.

Received my passport with stamped visa on March 14th. Give it 5-7 working days for any updates and then contact VFS if needed.

Yes, this is my first H1B visa stamp after F1.

Hey there,

I am trying to schedule my dropbox appointment too but the portal says no appointments available? even before I choose a location. How long did it take you to find an appointment?

I am trying to schedule a dropbox appointment too but the portal says no appointments available even before I choose a location from 5 VAC offices: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad in the dropdown.

Also, can anyone share how to book dropbox appointment for Chandigarh, Kochi, Pune and other 3 similar non-VAC but dropoff-only locations? I do not see them in the dropdown.

Does anyone have any idea how long ago were they able to book appointments for Feb-March 2022 dropoff appointments? thankyou in advance
