H1B approved without Change of Status

Hi,

I had applied for H1B (currently on H4) and it got approved recently but without Change of status.I had not travelled outside US in the meanwhile.

My employer says it can be done after I am mapped to some engagement but I hear from others around me that its unsual. Please advice!

Yes, you can apply for change of status, whenever you like to move to H1.
