H1b(2017) case status is still 'case received'

Hi,

I am currently on h4 visa and got picked up in lottery for h1b-2017.But since then I ve been tracking my case in USCIS and its ‘Case was received’ status upto today.I have not gone for Premium Processing yet,is that the reason its getting delayed? Can I go for Premium now so that it gets approved soon and by October I may start job hunting?

Please advise…

You can apply for PP even now. BTW, you already have a job - with the company that filed your H-1. They are on the hook to pay you the salary once you move to H-1 irrespective of whether you are on a project or not.
