I currently have a valid H-1B extension approval (I-797A) with my current employer. I am planning to book a visa stamping appointment in my home country (India) for April 2026 using the DS-160 based on this petition.

Before the visa appointment date, I may change jobs: either to a new employer or to a different position with the same employer, and in that case, I would have a new I-797A approval notice (This is before traveling to home county).

My questions are:

  1. Do I need to cancel and rebook my visa appointment with the consulate after getting the new I-797A?
  2. Or can I keep the same appointment date and simply update my DS-160 to reflect the new petition details?
