Hi Team,

My H1B lottery got picked,Currently I’m in India and will be travelling to the US(H4) on May 15th 2022

Few questions here.

  • Do i need SSN number when apply from US?
  • How much time does it take LCA to Approved /does LCA is employee specific?
  • Also if we file petition from India can we make travel to US?

Any Suggestions are much appreciated.

No you don’t. You get one after your change of status from H4 to H1B.

Yes it is. Generally approved within 5 to 10 days.

Petition is always filed by the US employer with USCIS in the US. If you are currently in H4 status with a valid visa and have a spouse working in the US on H1B, you can travel to the US on H4 and have your employer file the H1B petition with a change of status that will go into effect on 1st October 2022.
