F1 visa query- And application chances for H1B in this year for 2014

Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding H1B visa.
1) Is it possible to travel to india on OPT without F1 status and H1B not yet filed for 2014
2)Is there any chance to file H1B this year ?before OCT

  1. You can travel to India on OPT.

  2. Wait for 4-5 days and watch for USCIS communication regarding number of slots open at the end of this week.

PLEASE NOTE THIS: you CANNOT travel on OPT without a valid F-1 status i.e. if your F-1 visa expired already you cannot re-enter.
