F1 OPT for 9 months H1 for 3 months - Same company , paid FICA for last 3 months. Status - Single , did not pass substantive presence test. Filing on software allows only itemized deductions. For getting standard deductions, it says I need to be a student. Even if I was on opt for 9 months, can’t i claim standard deduction ?
