Conversion of Interview waiver appointment to face-face interview in India

Hi,

I have a H1B visa interview waiver appointment in India and will be dropping off my paperwork at VAC Delhi. My last visa stamping was back in 2018, so its been more than 4 years. I have couple of questions:

1. Are the visa interview waiver appointments being denied for such cases in India and asked to appear for face-face interviews ? If so, please share your experience.

2. Is it possible for the VAC to deny the application for an interview waiver even if the application states Interview Waiver Eligible.

If your last visa stamping is more than 48 months, you wont qualify for IW.

Is it possible for the VAC to deny the application for an interview waiver even if the application states Interview Waiver Eligible.

Even if you qualify for IW, the CO may still call your for interview as the IW is at Consular officer’s discretion.
