I want to apply for change of status from H4 to F1 but this process takes 3-4 months. I can’t do so as i need to travel to india(i am an indian citizen) for 3 weeks soon. Traveling out of US during change of status process can abandon my COS request. Hence i decided to apply for COS once i am back in US but by that time my course would have been started and hence i need to attend the course initially on H4 like for 3-4 months (the time COS takes place). Does this action effects in getting me OPT later ? If yes, then what should i do? Should i apply for COS when I am in Iindia? How much time will this process take? Please guide!
