Change of Status(COS) H1 to H4

Was on H1B, I was laid off on April 20, 2025. Now, need to change my status back to H-4 (without EAD)as soon as possible.

I’ve heard that the I-539 application can be filed online instead of paper-based, but I’m unsure which route is best.

In the online application, there’s a question: “What is your current nonimmigrant status?” The closest available option to H-1B is “H-1B1 Specialty Occupation”, but H-1B1 is specifically for Chile & Singapore.

Should I select this option and proceed, or is it safer to file a paper application instead, given I only have 10 days left?

If anyone has genuine insights or personal experience, please share! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Select H1B1 as H1B1= H1B, proceed

Hello Admin,
I got i797 approval for H4 Visa until Decmeber2027. But however, I had to travel and return back to USA in April 2025 but at port of entry they just checked the previous visa on passport which was valid until June 2025 and allowed me. Therefore, they issued i94 with last admit date until June 2025 which nullifies the latest visa approval. However, there is new i797 approval notice on same visa type approved until 2027 and what will be my current visa status. What are ways to get it rectified. When I approach CBP Deffered center for correcting i94 dates, they tell me to check with employer. But I am not current working at all. Kindly advise.
