Carrying silver/gold on F1 visa

Hello, can a F1 visa student coming to the US for the first time carry silver items worth 2000$ from india to give them to his/her relative? Do they need to declare it on the US customs declaration form? Let me know

This is not an issue. You need to declare if more then $10k.
